   Frozen dead meat or rotting dead meat, it’s just meat. Electrochemical reactions in the brain cease and you are dead and no more. You are no more the person that was than a filet mignon is still a cow.

   Were not that far ahead in cryogenics yet I believe. We may be able to freeze you but, defrosting is the problem, you cell explode when frozen. I don’t believe in a soul. I believe in the brain and its functions.

   It has no effect on the soul because it leaves the body at death. All that is left is the mortal body that will not live again till judgement day. THose people who have had their bodies preserved will not live again till judgement day, the same as the other dead. Science and man can’t come between God’s plan for man.

   Cryonics is the idea that a human can be preserved in liquid Nitrogen after having the body vitrified. The solution that the person has placed in their bodies prevents ice damage while preserving the structure of the body.. This solution was put in lab animals that were nearly frozen for I believe over a day and later these dogs were resuscitated. I have done some research and find it interesting. Alcor and Cryonics Institute both agree that it is currently not reversible as the low temperature of LN2 does cause hairline fractures due to not having a vitrification solution that can evenly solidify in LN2. In the future there might be technologies available to reverse the damages occurred at the time of death and reverse the damages produced by being placed in LN

   I do not believe there is a soul, therefore I do not believe that if Cryonics works there would be any affect on a soul.

   Cryogenics is the ultimate expression of materialism and of complete absence of faith in one-self. People who subscribe to it clearly see in themselves not more than a carcass.

   I am not religious, but spiritual. Cryogenics do not particularly impact the Soul, it is however, an expression of spiritual immaturity. From the true spiritual perspective, people can do with their bodies whatever they want, for as long as it does not harm others. Even self-mutilation is permissible.

   Another “belief” question…that word is really overused on this site.

   Cryonics or cryogenics is one of those concepts where the idea has got ahead of the technology. There has been some success with small animals frozen for short periods of time, nothing with animals larger than mouse sized. The technology is in its infancy, and nobody can predict what will happen if they evey successfully “thaw” somebody….will they be able to restart the heart. If so will they have brain function…

   It’s still very science fiction.

   Imagine the body and soul somewhat like a butterfly in a coccoon for this answer.

   Once the butterfly emerges from the coccoon, if you preserve the coccoon, does it effect the butterfly?

   Once life leaves a body (postmortem), it is then an empty carcass, and the soul sleeps and awaits for the judgment of Christ (no longer being part of the physical body).
