Good grief…………who wants to be immortal.

At least I have the dream of retiring to a nice villa in the Med to look forward to.

If I was immortal, I’d have to carry on working past 65 I’m sure.

………..and think of what sort of crisis the pensions industry would be in.

self discipline? > refuse to die, or has that been tried before?

Why would one want to? Unless of course, everything else could become immortal as well. If not, to be changeless, deathless, in a world of finitude and change would become a nightmare from which one could never escape.

Get inside the Lord of the Rings movie, those characters seemed to last hundreds of years.

Ah! Consider the great names of history and see how few you can recall. If such be fame, what price immortality? Anyway, after we’ve done our best, don’t we deserve a good long rest?

But we are all immortal… surely you don’t think yourself to be just your physical body that dies?

I can’t answer you in the physical, yet I can tell you how to leave your legacy behind. Make yourself a time capsule of your most memorial moments, things that are dear to you, keep it in a safe place, write a will designating that time capsule is to be passed from those generations that come after you.

Do Good Be Good…live in the memories of future generations…..be immortal…or write a great book..or invent something….you can be immortal…not literally….

Immortality means to live forever, eternal life.

Christian doctrine teaches that eternal life is possible through belief in Jesus Christ. If you are a Christian and have accepted Jesus Christ, eternal life has already begun. While there may be death of the human body, the soul lives on.

Buddhists also believe in immortality of the soul. Muslims also believe in an after-life.

Immortality is only real for people of faith. There is no immortality for the human body, only the human soul. The soul being the essence of our being, immortality is possible.

    Try Hedonism, not Narcissism!0!

But not just any hedonist, become a true hedonist, explore, delve, surpass, excel.

In the water where the scent of my emotion,

All the world will pass me by,

    Fly away on my Zephyr,

    We’re gonna live forever Forever.

I think it was RHCP who very philosophically put it like that!0!

    Good luck!

This assumes that you are no more than a body Veronica.

Bodies die we are already immortal.

The idea of keeping bodies alive forever sounds horrible to me. Why would you want to be stuck in this thing forever.

    Love and blessings Don

When you die you become immortal. But I guess that’s not really considered being alive, so I’m not sure!

  14. Light Bringer on April 16th, 2008 6:55 pm

Immortality comes through one, and that is Jesus Christ who is the resurrection and the life.

Jesus said in John 11:25-26 – 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.

If we believe in Jesus, we will achieve life after death, and our bodies will become perfect, glorious, and imperishable.

If you make a strong enough impact on society, such as becoming becoming a revolutionary artist or architect then you will be immortalised in your art, or whatever it is you’ve left behind, like Beethoven, Da Vinci, Jane Austen etc

  16. bollyqueen08 on April 18th, 2008 1:47 am

Well, my first thought was if you star in a movie or write a book…. but that’s not true. These things are not truly immortal. Film can be destroyed. Books can be scattered, lost. Forgotten.
Then I realised, our souls are immortal. We don’t have to achieve immortality, we are immortal!

  17. mordy0 on April 20th, 2008 6:50 am

hard to answer without prerquisite concepts, about the soul, incopreality etc.
Not to say that it does not exist, most certianly it does, its just not as simple as everyone makes it out to be. It cant be some sort of paradise bec your body cant exist, its physical. it cant be anything related to your psyche, bec that rooted in the physical

  18. taoist_1117 on April 23rd, 2008 8:03 am

There is a religion of practice from China called Taoism. The goal of any given Taoist is their own, but there are two overwhelmingly popular ones: integral-oneness and immortality. How does one achieve immorality, one creates a self sustaining system of Chi, Jing, and Shen thus making themselves a microcosm of the greater universe. Thus their energies are consistently renewed and they live forever.

How does one do that you ask? Well, first one balance their chi jing and shen via standing meditation (chi), sitting meditation (shen), and moving meditation (jing).
