yes… not because of the science end of it, but how unscrupulous businesses utilize the information…. dna testing yielding information about your probable future physical conditions… affecting how insurance companies charge you for life insurance, whether employers will hire you… etc…
Sure, but stem cell research could help save many lives although it has a downside. Also, I think animal testing is wrong, but there is no other way sometimes. Other than humans, what else are we going to test things on?
Not really — knowledge is always good. But there are some ethical issues to keep in mind — one does not jeopardize life unnecessarily just to learn something of limited value.
heck no, cant screw things up anymore than we already have, or will, even without the science. Might as well do some cool stuff
Yes, science can go too far sometimes.
Imagine if you will a scientist in the 12th century who decided that he needed to know how the heart worked and decided to operate on one of his living slaves. cutting open his chest without anasthesia to observe the beating of the heart? this actually happened.
Yea i know you mentioned particular ongoing research.
ok, some crazy doctor in china decides that he needs to do research on living people in cryogenics and gets approval from the state. it could happen, they have 3 billion people. whats the big deal if you lose a couple thousand by locking them in a big freezer for research?
Cloning? they could clone people for parts.
Stem cell research in china has been going on for years and there have been terrible results from it. (although, i believe the people involved were volunteers, perhaps the chinese scientist are not as good as ours?) And there is no proof yet of anything good coming from fetal stem cell research although there is some hope for adult stem cells, just not yet.
Can science go to far? No.
Science is trying to help us understand the universe and our place in it, from the smallest particle to the entire universe. Sometimes the knowledge can be dangerous when used in applications that are detrimental to humanity as a whole (you did not mention the worse, the creation of bio weapons that once released can infect all mankind), but the knowledge itself can not be judged by what people do with it.
no its the people that dont use its fruits right that go to far.
Dear friend,
Science never goes to far , Its the human being who goes to far many times and misuse the science.
But anyway we humans can not go beyond the nature. No way
in any case.
The research and development is for the sake of mankind to have more and more hapiness peace unity relations etc.
So the question is “Are we going the way mentioned above or somewhere else? Are we using science 100% for better and better life? ” OR ” Are we going to the dirty, fearful, horrorful life and finally the destruction of the human race?”
Think.
have wonderful and significant life.

Well, science went to the Moon, then to Mars and then right on out to the region of Uranus. So, perhaps, yes.
=science is exactly what it is a well thought out and scientifically proved AT THIS MOMENT, but always subject to change. It is constantly ongoing and what may be true today is scientifically proved wrong tomorrow. Take it for what it is worth and use your own intelligence, opinion, and judgment because it is always evolving. It is man’s may of explaining the universe. The world was once thought flat and we could fall off till it was scientifically proved! Man is constantly seeking explanations for this universe. Ever see the movie “Ants”? That was their explanation.
