My friend is a technology junkie. He is extremely smart when it comes to computers and science. Here are his theories:

1) He believes that we will soon reach a point of singularity.

2) He believes that within 100 years humans will develop artificial intelligence and computers or robots will be able to outsmart humans.

3)He believes that science and medicine will get so good that the life of humans will be extended drastically by many many years.

4)He also thinks it might be possible to bring dead people back to life in the future. (i think it is called cryogenics?)

   1 and 2 are thesmae thing, The Singualrity is the point at which we create intelignece superieor to ourselves.
   which i reckon is pretty possible.
   theres a wiki article on it i found intresting reading.
   in the last 200 years weve nearly doubled the average lifespan, so expect it to go a bit more, though if we develop advancced genome techniques then it should be possible to alter the DNA to be perpetually healing, bringing on somethign close to immortality.
   though i doubet we woudl be able to brign people back form the dead, though the tiem of soemones haert stopping and htem reaching past the stage of resutiaon may increase as we learn more advnaced medicinal techniques.
   your mate seems to have a simialr mindset as me
